Herd About Rescue is an Ontario & Quebec based rescue dedicated to the rescue and rehoming of herding breeds and herding breed mixes with a special interest and  experience working with Double Dilute dogs who are born deaf, blind, or both. Our goal is to ensure each animal in our care finds a loving family suited to their individual needs, while educating the public about the requirements and quirks of herding breeds, along with the very special needs of the blind/deaf dogs.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION BELOW:

We are sad to announce that as of mid-November, 2025, Herd About Rescue will be closing our doors. There are just not enough resources to help the dogs requiring rescue at this time. Foster homes are burning out, pockets are empty, and the need just increases on an almost daily basis. As well, after 21 years of running the rescue (first Collie Rescue Network, which turned into Herd About Rescue), it's time for me to step back and help in other ways if I can.

For Collies (Rough & Smooth) for surender, or to adopt:
Please contact Southern Ontario Sheltie Rescue

For all other breeds for surrender, or to adopt:
Please contact Speaking of Dogs Rescue

In Northern Ontario, Hearst & Hornepayne area:
Please contact Chews & Snooze Rescue

We are, sadly, just one of several rescues closing their doors this year. Without support, rescue can NOT happen and dogs die. It's incredibly hard, day after day, to say no to folks who just need help, knowing that means the fate of their dogs is likely euthanasia. Rescue NEED your help. Please contact one of the rescues above if you can foster, volunteer, donate. They need you - the DOGS need you.
